our story

Many moons ago, I was a primary school teacher. I enjoyed my job, but the bits I always loved the most were the arty, creative parts....art lessons, wall displays, painting the scenery for the school plays...you get the drift!

So, when I had my kids and stepped back from full-time teaching, it seemed like a good time to have a go at something where I could be creative all the time! I set up my own small business, Philippa Yates Designs, and I started to make wedding stationery. This soon morphed into wooden wedding signage which turned into a whole variety of wooden products made mainly from reclaimed wood.

I loved working with wood and I especially loved making beautiful handcrafted pieces that helped people to remember truth or celebrate life!

When someone asked me if I could paint an encouraging phrase on a little block of wood, the Little Block Of Truth (or LBOT, as it is affectionately named) was born!

The LBOT was my most popular Philippa Yates Designs product, so after several years of having it as simply one of my pieces, I decided to strip everything else away and make the LBOT the star of the show.
